Recommended Reading

I often receive e-mails from readers of this blog who ask me about the writers and books that have inspired and helped me during my career or request the source of a quotation or idea that I may have used in one of these posts or in one of my seminars and lectures.

As you can probably imagine, over the years, I have built up quite a collection of books which, for one reason or another, have ‘spoken’ to me in a particular way. Bearing in mind what the Croatian author Bernard Jan says – “There is no greater joy than to share what you love with those who appreciate it” – I think it’s time I recommended some of my favourite titles to you.

Below is a list of some of them

  1. The Ultimate Sales Machine” by Chet Holmes
  2. Permission Marketing” by Seth Godin
  3. Many Miles to Go” by Brian Tracy
  4. The Thank You Economy” by Gary Vaynerchuk
  5. Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert T. Kiyosaki
  6. Our Iceberg Is Melting” by John Kotter
  7. Swim With The Sharks Without Being Eaten Alive” by Harvey B. Mackay
  8. The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader” by John C. Maxwell
  9. Smartcuts” by Shane Snow
  10. The 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing” by Al Ries and Jack Trout
  11. Steve Jobs” by Walter Isaacson
  12. Purple Cow” by Seth Godin

It’s worth mentioning that many of the books in the above list were recommended to me by others, so as part of our two-way communication, please don’t hesitate to let me know of books or authors that have touched, helped or inspired you in some way and which you would like to share. I look forward to your suggestions and recommendations. Of course, while we can all keep learning from others, it’s important also to remember what the great Russian writer Maxim Gorky said: “Keep reading books, but remember that a book is only a book, and you should learn to think for yourself.”
